Call for abstracts

Abstract submissions are now CLOSED for the 2022 Health Care in Secure Settings conference.

Thank you to those who submitted an abstract. We will update you after the 4th May, once they have been reviewed by the committee. 


Each abstract presentation will be 20 minutes in total, which includes a 15 minute presentation and a five minute discussion. 

You are invited to submit an abstract on the topics relating to, and advancing, practice, policy and research in custodial and forensic mental health care settings.

Key dates

  • Abstract submissions open Monday 14 March 2022
  • Abstract submissions close 4.00pm Monday 18 April 2022
  • Notification of abstract acceptance by Wednesday 4 May 2022

Abstract submissions must

  • Be a maximum 500 words
  • Be written in English
  • Be formatted in Arial 11 point type, single-line spaced with one line left between paragraphs
  • Specify any abbreviations used at the first mention
  • Be checked for spelling and grammatical errors
  • Not include references
  • Submitted as a word document 

Abstract papers must provide the following information

  • Title
  • Author/s
  • Introduction of issue to be discussed
  • Aim/s or background to the issue
  • Methods or description of what is being done about the issue
  • Results or outcomes and implications from identified actions or approaches and why it is important
  • Discussions/conclusions
  • Key takeaway message for delegates

Terms and conditions for accepted abstracts

If chosen, you will need to be available over the conference dates to present your abstract to delegates.

Successful abstract presenters will receive complimentary registration to the conference. Any costs incurred to attend the conference, such as travel and accommodation is the responsibility of the presenter.
